Hello:

I just noticed that my 98 C70 coupe's rear window moulding is showing age and cracking. The other black rubber/plastic pieces around the other windows look fine.

It seems like the corner sections are cracking and the straight pieces connecting them are very weatherbeaten. My C70 does spend time outside, but is covered a lot as well.

Has anyone noticed this on their C70 coupes?

It was something that I noticed all of a sudden too. I have drenched it in some plastic treatment, but I don't know of a real solution other than replacement. That would not be cheap at all.

My windshield moulding looks fine at this point, BTW.

I had a stone or something recently hit the "window molding" on the left edge of the windshield. Took out about a 1 inch length chunk half-way into the molding. When I asked the dealer if the strip along the left side of the windshield could be repaired or replaced, he said it was an integral part of the windshield. Not wanting to spring for the cost of a new windshield, anybody got a source for black epoxy or something to use as a repair filler? There is no leak but certainly is unsightly.

Sorry to hear that RDL. It would bother the heck out of me too.
If it was me I would probably try to
build it up slowly a little at time with some kind of sandible
epoxy filler. When I got it a little higher level than the actual
molding I would then sand and paint treating it like regular body
touch up. If you have no base to work with I would some how make one using
a hard guas or something like that which they use in repairing
sheetrock. I would most likely go to a model shop for their help
and get some Testors model spray paint [ maybe flat black ]and primer.
I would then paint both sides to match up. [ Just drop cloth your
whole car well ]

They would probably be able to give you hints on how to build it
up and sand it down even. I bet if done over time no one will ever know
except you, especially is you use an exterior rubber and vinyl treatment.

Maybe someone can do this for you professionally. But have no idea how much.

ps - Just thought of something else. This may work for you also. Build it
up like I described above. Then top it off with molding black out tape
you can get at Pep Boys, etc. Do both sides in flat black and top
with your favorite vinyl treatment. I know there is a little space
between the molding and the glass. I would wrap it under for a nice
finished look and cut to size with an exacto razor.

Same here on my 99. I even put exterior rubber & vinyl treatment on.
Must be a bad design. I'm going to put something stronger on now
like Zymol's Seal or Gummiphedge for BMW's.

My front windshield weatherstripping has also popped up at the top corners.
