BRAKE JOB COMPLETE...YES! V70-XC70 1998

Just finished replacing rotors and pads on the T5 with the help of my brother in-law. Followed the directions on Bay 13, and it was so easy. Ordered all the parts, including the 7mm allen socket, from IPD. So far everything seems right which isn't too shabby (I am not a great mechanic by any means). The pads had 60K and still looked about 50%, the front rotors however were quite worn and were shaking while braking at highway speeds. So far have 120K on the car and have now gone through two sets of brakes, is this typical of most you?

Anyway, just wanted to pass on to those folks who may shy away from doing their own brakes, IT WAS SIMPLE.

My wife's 1995 855 with automatic is getting about 30K out of a
set of front pads. At 60K the front rotors needed replacing.

I have a 1998 T5 with manual transmission and I'm seeing longer
brake pad and rotor life. About 50% longer. Probably due to
not using the brakes as much due to the manual transmission.

Your usage sounds about right.

Ray, I too have a manual and it is good to see my nunbers matching with someone else. Thanks,
