I have a 95 850 wagon, and as I start out from home and reach abou 15 mph, there is a sound like the doors locking. I would not find this surprising except that they are not locked when I stop, so of course I had to open one Driver's) while driving over 15, and it still was not locked. Is there a setting for safety locks that is off on my car, or what the heck is the locking sound about?

It is the ABS doing a self check. In our 1995 855 there was a note
in the glove box about this when we took delivery (new). I don't
recall if it was in the manual and maybe that is why they added the
note or if it was there because so many people noticed it and asked
about the odd noise.

It is normal.

is it at 17mph? I had this question a long time ago. The consensus seemed to be that it was the ABS system doing a self-check.

yes
its the abs selftest each time you start the car, take a look to the owners manual
