Transmission shifting..HELP..!! 850 1995

Okay, my 850 Turbo is driving me crazy. Where do I start...??

Driving down the road all the instrument gauges went dead. Tach,Gas,Speed,Fuel all went to zero...Yellow shift arrow came on with Check Engine Light. I pull the codes, it logged a VSS P0500. I replaced it...Cleared code... NO HELP.

Now when you drive the car it's shifting wildly. It can't make up its mind what gear it wants to be in. The instrument gauges bounce with the transmission shifting. Fluid level is perfect & clean.

Could this be the 'PnP" switch...?? I have heard many of you talk about this switch, but what exactly does it do...??

Any help out there...??

    When the PNP switch went in my '95 855, all it did was frequently go into limp mode, none of your other symptoms.

    I think you also have a bad throttle position sensor. Compare your symptoms to mine. Driving down the highway, transmission bounces up and down gears, in and out of overdrive especially if on an incline. You might drive for an hour and all is well, then bang it drops out of overdrive for no reason and the tach is bouncing all over the place. Happens especially when it is cold. My 850 is getting this part replaced today...

      Bob,

      Did it log any codes..?? That is what is killing me. I'm relying on the computer to tell me whats going on but I am logging that one code... P0500 VSS. Which I replaced and checked all the wiring leading to it. It's all okay.

      If I driving it long enough it will go into LIMP mode and flash the orange arrow and check engine light will come on. Same code..VSS Inop.

      What's the cause...?? I know it hard to troubleshoot over the internet.
