Transmission shifting..HELP..!! 850 1995

Okay, my 850 Turbo is driving me crazy. Where do I start...??

Driving down the road all the instrument gauges went dead. Tach,Gas,Speed,Fuel all went to zero...Yellow shift arrow came on with Check Engine Light. I pull the codes, it logged a VSS P0500. I replaced it...Cleared code... NO HELP.

Now when you drive the car it's shifting wildly. It can't make up its mind what gear it wants to be in. The instrument gauges bounce with the transmission shifting. Fluid level is perfect & clean.

Could this be the 'PnP" switch...?? I have heard many of you talk about this switch, but what exactly does it do...??
