New 2000 S70 AWD owner...a little concerned. S70 2000

Hi,

First post here, first time owner of Volvo.
A few days ago I got 2000 S70 AWD with 35K miles on it.
It’s a one owner car that went through all scheduled maintains at the same dealer.
I have been reading this forum for a little while and only today came across
what appears to be some possible issues with AWD system.
How concern should I be and what should I do now to prevent any possible
issues with it? The car has a new set of identical tires that were replaced recently, but I don’t know when exactly.

I’m totally new to Volvo and don’t know anything about it, except a common reputation for its reliability and safety. I would appreciate any tips and advise from your experience with this car.

Thank you,
-Eugene

    Eugene,
Welcome to the Brickboard....and relax. Realize, that the nature of a forum like this is that people come with their problems. By and large, your car should provide years of reliable service as long as you provide it with reasonable care. Regular oil changes, flush the transmission every 30K or so, and for the AWD, keep the tires of comparable diameter front and rear. If one needs to be replaced and the others are at least half worn, you will probably need to replace all 4. This is true of most AWD systems, and is the price for the added security in slippery situations.
I have 126K on my 98 XC, and have been very pleased with its performance. Yes, there have been some annoyances along the way (this summer, I'll probably need to repair the ABS box), but it is a very enjoyable car to drive, and every winter it gets me up and down the roads of Mt Rainier, often through considerable snow and ice, with no drama whatsoever.
Welcome, and enjoy your new car!

Thank you Gordon for a welcome and encouraging words.
I got this car for my wife, I'm an Audi guy and have never heard of this issue with tires and Quattro. Since the car is used I'm a little concerned, but you're right, typically on these boards you read about a lot of issues and not so much when all is ok (you should see what goes on on Audi boards, oh my :) )

Well, the car seems fine thus far. The only thing is that an engine (when idle) seems to be a little lauder then I'm used to in other cars. Is this normal for a Volvo S70? Thanks!

The five cylinder is a little noisier than some other configurations, but I've come to enjoy the growl.
