Fuel Door Release/Electrical problems S70

98-2000 70 series are notorious for sticking door lock switch on the pass door. If the rocker switch is stuck in either the lock or unlock position, it overrides the door lock/trunk/fuel door buttons in the drivers door. The remote will still unlock/lock the car, but the door switches will not work. Next time it happens, try tweaking the pass door switch and see if functions return.
