Hi,

I just replaced my PNP (neutral safety switch) after having the typical-won't shift out of third problems- and a 313 code. I cleared the codes and now the up arrow on the dash blinks repeatedly and I am still getting the 313 code at A1. Otherwise the vehicle seems to shift up and down through the gears without a problem. Does anyone have any ideas? When I bought the switch I asked about the alignment tool shown on Volvospeed and they had never heard of it and claimed they had replaced several without a problem. Thanks for any info.

I waited for about 2 month to get the alignment tool from Dealer. Dealer told me that OTC didn't make a lot of this tool. This tool is made by order.

Do your reverse lights work? If they don't, the pnp switch isn't lined up exactly right, and the code will stay. If they do, you probably just haven't reset it. I've modified Volvo's way because it didn't work for me, this is what I do.

Key in on position, A1, button down for three seconds, read the code, button down for three seconds again, read the code. If you got the same code on the second read, that is the only code you have in the system. If you got another code, hold the button down for three seconds again, read the code. You do this until you repeat the first code you started with. After doing this, hold the button down for seven seconds, let up, when the light comes back on, quickly hold the button down for another count of seven. Now check the code...hold the button down for three seconds...you should get 1-1-1. Now, stick the probe into A2 because sometimes the code will also show up here, do the same read and erase thing. did it work - cause that exact same thing happened to me today

If the car is shifting properly then it's likely the code that isn't being erased. Codes have to be read twice before holding down the button as per the erasing procedure. Get rid of the code and you'll get rid of the arrow.
