Performance suspension or not? 850

What is the easiest way to determine if my '95 850 Turbo has the optional performance suspension? It has 17" rims and a very firm ride. I would like to soften the ride up a bit but I really like the rims. I know going to a 16" would give a little more sidewall and contribute to a better ride. I read of a guy who swapped his springs for softer ones, kept his 17's and was pleased with the results.

Thanks in advance,

Rick

Boge shocks give the smoothest ride from my experience. Also, what is your tire rating? I had "Z" and went to "V" and the ride got smoother. I don't need to go 147mph.

Good luck

I assume by "firm" you mean you can feel every little tar strip and never lean in a curve. That's sport suspension! Changing wheel sizes will not noticeably change the ride, my 854t has 16" stock wheels and still rides rough even when I swap for winter tires.
Your best bet is to install "normal" springs and shocks. This will increase your ride hight about 2" and soften your ride considerably. Stock Volvos still will not "rock" like American cars, but you will no longer be able to pretend to be Jim Clark on curvey roads.
