low mileage and possible culprits and reading codes 850 1995

My mileage has been going down lately and have read that possible causes could be Throttle body sensor, maf sensor, or egr..if any of these or other parts that might effecting the mileage are bad..is there always a code store in front of the car. I have no codes but still am having problems with mileage. or should i be getting any codes from inside the car and take it to the dealer.
if anyone has any experience in replacing the above parts or even the vacuum lines and has some picture on how to do it ..i like to starting replacing parts one at time..i like to know which vacuum lines need to be checked..not sure how many there are and where.

thanks

on a 95 there should be a code puller box ont the front of the engine bay..dont need a reader, see bay13 for deatials i think (or a haynes manual)...

before you tear your hair out and your bank book up have you dont the following..

1. checked for binding breaks
2. checked tyre presures
3. checked transmission fluid (and changed it if its over 30k old and an auto)
4. fitted new spark plugs
5. fitted new spark plug wires
6. fitted a new distributor cap
7. fitted a new rotor arm
8. fitted a new air filter
9. engine oil due for a change/ or low???
10. cleaned throtle plate
11. run injector cleaner thru the car?
12. taken it for a good long high speed run

its amazing how much better a car can run for just catching up on the little - and cheap - things.....
