No, you can replace the glove box lock components and the steel catch on the dash without having to buy the whole door. Search on glove box lock on this forum and someone a few months ago listed all the part numbers for the catch, the lock cylinder, etc..
Also, you don't need a locksmith, the door can be carefully pried open just enough to saw through the steel catch bracket without damaging it. You have to pry it open using a wide, flat object, like a large flat blade screwdriver (wrap the end it tape so it doesn't scratch or rip the lid). Once you get it pried open a bit get something to stick in there to hold it open. You need to get it open enough to slide a piece of doubled over cardboard in. What I've seen done is to fold a piece of cardboard in half, then put a hacksaw blade in the cardboard. Slide that whole thing into the crack and use the hacksaw blade to cut the steel catch. The cardboard is there to make sure that the blade going up and down doesn't rip up the lid. Once the steel catch is cut the lid will open. Then you just have to disassemble the lid and replace the broken lock and tab, and replace the steel catch on the dash.
