Seeking skid plate info V70-XC70

I see there are two OEM part numbers for skid plates, and as I don't have access to VADIS, I wondered whether someone could tell me the difference (or point me to where I could find out the difference) between the two:

9444164 Skid plate (not for AWD or XC)

9192498 Skid plate for AWD & XC

I believe the second item is a set of metal bars that runs below the oil pan, but I am not certain.

Many thanks.

I've had the Volvo skidplate on my FWD T5 for about the last 150,000 miles, it's a series of bars that looks like a sewer grate but welded into one piece and galvanized. The IPD skidplate is actually a plate with holes cut out for the various drains etc.

I know for a fact that P/N 9444164 (Engine protector) is a set of metal bars that protect the engine oil pan and transmission. This P/N is the Volvo OE unit for the S70, V70 and C70 coupe (not convertible)

P/N 9192498 (Engine protector) is also a set of metal bars and is the Volvo OE for the V70AWD and V70XC.

These should fit the first generation of V70's (up to 2000?????) the MkII version of the V70 is a totally different beast.

These units sure do the job, you should see the scars on mine from rocks, curbs, etc.

You don't say what year your V70 is.

Thanks for clarifying this. I have a 98 T5M. It sounds as though these are the same part -- is there any appreciable difference between them? One is about $20 more than the other.

You want the P/N 9444164 engine protector. The one for the V70AWD and the V70XC I believe have extra bends on the tubes to clear the tranfer case on those models, I could be wrong.
