S70 AWD S70 2000

My mother found an '00 S70 AWD at a Volvo dealership in northern New England. It is silver, has 53k original miles, one-owner, and appears to be really clean inside and out. She's been looking for an AWD Volvo for some time now, since she would like a vehicle that can handle all kinds of weather. The question is: If we decide to buy this S70, should we be aware of the issues the early AWD Volvos had, such as bevel gears and tires?

Most owners do not screw up their drive trains by adding two new tires at a time, or driving around with a space saver mounted. Hint: sell the space saver on Ebay!
99 and 00 do have new electronics. The real problem is the throttle by wire part. It tends to fail and when it does, you are Found On the Road Dead. This was fixed for 01, so I hear.
