One out of four tire worn out. S60 2002

The front left tire is worn out but the rest are fine. Also the brake pad from that same wheel wore out 50% faster than the other side. Any suggestions? Thanks

Thanks for your reply on my query to my query (posted below, with your response). I found I have been able to reproduce the effect by riding the pedal lightly as I slow into a tight right hand turn. Then the pedal resists, almost like its is kicking back, and the brakes grab until I let up briefly and reapply.I have not detected any heat on the hubs. Does this help narrow the range of possible problems?
>>About once a day the when I apply brake pedal on my 850 it won't depress for a brief moment and the brakes grab. I let off and reapply and all is fine. ABS system also seems to pulse when brakes are applied routinely on a slow downhill. Any ideas? <<

A sticky slide on the right caliper. Brake grease will do the job. Still, check your alignment and bushings up front while the car is being serviced.

One out of four tire worn out. S60 2002

Greetings,

Had the same problem years ago on a VW Jetta. The caliper piston was jammed and caused that sides pads to wear down very quickly (weeks). The car also pulled to the opposite side, but only at highway speeds. Another clue was loss of fuel economy. Did not have the tire wear that I remember.

Replaced the caliper, both front rotors and a new set of pads solved the problem.

I mention the VW because it was a front wheel drive setup similar to the S60.

Got a heavy foot? S60 2002

I firmly believe that a combination of a heavy foot and traction control will do what you found. Damn bells and whistles...

You have two problems. If the front pads wear at different rates, the piston is hanging up and not releasing or the break pressure is not even between the wheels. Get to a doctor and have him check it out, it could be a safety issue. And get new pads for both sides while you are at it.
The one tire wearing could be because you are using only the left front for stopping OR it needs to be aligned. If you have never had your wheels aligned, it is money well spent.

Are all tires same brand, type and size? Is the left front tire worn evenly, or mostly on edges, or one edge? Alignment problem might cause one tire to wear faster, but I don't know if it would cause the brake wear problem.

All the tires are the same brand original michelins and the one tire is worn out pretty evenly. Could it be the shocks or springs? Thanks

Mebbe the brake is failing to release on that side?
