Connect exhaust to manifold 850

I just got a replacement manifold for my 95 850 2l 10v. The manifold that I currently have is leaking. The troble is that the new manifold has a four point flange on the end of it, whereas the old one just had a downpipe that went directly into the front pipe of the exhaust.

Is there any way of connecting up my new manifold?

Connect exhaust to manifold 850

I'm not sure where you are located, because we never had a 2L 10V in the US. However, I am going to bet that the exhaust manifold that you had on your car was the same as what Volvo used on the 2.4L motors from 1991 through 1993. It used a sealing ring with two bolts with springs to connect the manifold to the exhaust. I believe that the exhaust manifold that you have is the type that was used from 1994 on for the 2.4L naturally aspirated motors. If I am correct so far, I am going to bet that where your old exhaust manifold leaked was at the sealing ring joint between the manifold and the exhaust pipe. I presume that you may have obtained a used exhaust manifold. If you want to use this manifold, you will need to obtain the next section of the exhaust system (in the US that would be the catalytic converter) with the same four bolt flange. This section will be about 1.5 meters long, and will mate up with the existing tail pipe on your car, assuming that the remainder of the exhaust system is the same as mine. I have done this conversion on my 1993 2.4L, and it is what finally eliminated the exhaust leak at the manifold. I obtained a used exhaust manifold and catalytic converter which made parts expenses quite reasonable, and the result was well worth it. Don't forget to obtain new manifold gaskets. You will need the five individual gaskets that go between the head and exhaust manifold, and the single gasket that goes between the manifold and the exhaust system at the four bolt flange.
