Strange 850 Radio code problem 850 1996

Battery went dead, wifey entered wrong code 3 times- went to 'OFF'. Performed 2 hour reset back to 'CODE' entered correct code does NOTHING. Restart car, back to 'CODE' enter and nothing. Searched boards, see that others have had the problem- no responses though.

Dealer says- "buy new radio"...typical!

    If previous owner changed the radio without notifying Volvo, you are out of luck. You could ask the dealer what the radio code is supposed to be according to the VIN, but that is about all that he can help you with.

      Hello, I had a similar problem on a 2000 s70. the radio had been changed so, I had to full the radio out wich was easy to do and give the dealer the serial # off of the back of the radio. Then I did the 2 hour reset and put in the code. It then worked. There is 2 little things on the left and right of the front of the radio. You push those in and a bracket comes out. You pull the bracket on both sides and the radio will slide out.
