How many amps/voltage battery drain with key off? I think I have a short. 850 1997

Can't seem to find how much the electrical system on my 97 GLT wagon uses with the key off. It mysteriously drained down over two days in the garage and I had to recharge the battery. But it hasn't happened since. Plan to disconnect battery and hook up my voltage tester and then start pulling the fuses until I hopefully find a circuit that is taking juice when it shouldn't. But I have to know what normal consumption is first. Dick

Possible that the liftgate light was on also.

You need an ammeter and you will need to disconnect a battery terminal and install one probe on the battery terminal and the other probe on the cable end. It should have around 0.027 amp draw with everything shut off. The most common short on your car is the glove box door does not shut enough to completly close the switch that shuts off the light. Use some closed cell foam tape on the door to completly close the switch if thats the case.

My "two day drain" was the relay for the blower for the emissions (both located in the area under the battery) froze (rusted) closed. It came to light when my car failed the emissions test.
