Dealer prices on 2001 Volvos seem low

Just checking the prices in the paper--dealer asking prices are lower than Edmunds and much lower than KBB. Basically mid-teens for cars with 50k or so miles--and you can find these for $10-12k on eBay. That is some brutal depreciation. I think four year old 850s were selling for more than that in the late 90s. Are these cars total duds? Is Volvo completely losing their reputation? I thought 2001+ cars were supposed to be half decent. What's up?

    If you check a blue book for 5 or 6 years on the same model, a Volvo loses $3000 to $4000 EXTRA value when the warranty runs out.

    Evidently, that is what a new car warranty is worth.

    There's a glut of cars on the used car market right now. Also, there's a glut on the new car market. It's not just Volvos, although lease returns might be depressing the 3-year old Volvo market even more.

    A new V70R can be had for a few thousand below the invoice, not sticker.
