'98 S70 Keyless Remote Programming S70 1998

I have tried to program a Keyless Remote I got on eBay last week (Identical to the one I already have...all numbers everything...battery tested and working) and have tried the 5times from off to position II on my iginition without starting the engine and then pushing a button on each one of my remotes within a few seconds. Many many times of the above procedure with slight changes...(getting out and locking the car manually after the programming, etc.), but I have had absolutely no success. The old remote still works, but I'd like to have a working back-up. I should note that during no time during the above procedure did any light come on with the sensor on my dash.

Somewhere I read that the dealer has to program this, but a friend in the parts dept. at the local dealer confirmed for me that the above method should work and that there was no need for me to have them do it and spend the $$.

Any suggestions?...I'm very Frustrated.

I was told the '98's weren't dependent on VADIS to enable a new remote...am I wrong?

98 model year is the ONLY year that requires the volvo scan tool and a pin#. Vadis is required on 99 and newer, ignition on 5 times works only on 97 and older.

What's the PIN number...is it something that is specific to a particular car? Does it come up if you have the Volvo scan tool? And...do you know how to get the codes, enter these codes if I got my hands on the Volvo Scan Tool? Thanks in advance,
David

hi,
yes you need to use the volvo scan tool and have a pin code, the pin codes are on a volvo database website called QW90,only a dealer has access to this.
if you want get back to me with the full chassis number and i can get it for you..

steve.

Steve...Yes, I got it...thanks a bunch. Already knew my radio code, but seeing that what you came up with matched, I am confident the remote programming PIN is correct as well.
