Starting Problem S70 2000

2000 S70 Turbo with 72,000 miles. Starting problem where car will do 1/2 crank (2 sec) and stop or "freeze". Turn it back to position two and trying again, sometimes will start on second or third try. Starts perfectly on cold or morning starts. Problem is diffinately worse in hot weather or car sitting in sun on hot days. So far it hasn't left me stranded but it a matter of time. Very iritating. The previous owner (maybe that's why she sold it) reported it four times to the dealer and they replaced: ignition switch. immonbilizer. keys, engine wire harness, starter switch, starter and PNP switch. I replace the engine speed sensor which appearantly is not the answer. Must be an electronic thing because it relate to hot weather. Car runs fine afer starting.

My old 850 had a fuel system relay and fuel pump injection system issue but this was not at starting, just engine fading out occasionally in hot weather. No just grasping a straws. My ETS was replace at 47,000.

Has anyone else had these problem? Help!!!

    Im grasping at straws again. Could there be any connection between the ECC unit and my starting problem. In hot weather I leave the a/c unit on auto but in nicer weather its off (zero). I know the heat and air turns off during starting (position III) but maybe something might be messed up. I do know that there is a clicking/ crackling sound ( much like a computer booting up only slow) when the heat or air is on. This noise continues even after the key is switched to postion I. The system seems to work fine thoough except for these clicking. Probably is not related to the starting issue, but what the heck. The former owner also reported this off and on clicking noise.

    This ECC clicking is not a bi issue with me, but the starting then is !!!!!I will sell this car or trade-in for a non-volvo if the problem can't be corrected. I really like the car but you can't cross your fingers everytime you get in the car and start it.

    Could this be a cam positioning sensor issue i.e. no starting with warm engine but ok with cold (found on the 850) Remember though starter doesn't keep turning the engine over with no ignition. It seem to "freeze" immediately. ????????????

      No Crank- Cam postioning senor S70 2000

      Me again. Think now that the ECC has nothing to do with this, since left air off all day and problem still happen. Intermittant but on hot days.
      No Codes yet but since its intermitant they may not show up. Was the 850 cam starting problem similar to mine? Klaus help me .
