Should I buy another S70, or a 960/S90 or something else?

I just sold my '99 S70 2.0 10v which was nice, but a little underpowered for what I do, so it is time for me to find another car.

I drive around 35,000 km/year (22,000 miles), most of it on highways. My daily commute is 100 km, and my travel frequently includes mountain driving. In other words comfort is paramount.

I have been looking at S80s but I understand that the '99 and '00 models have issues and I don't really feel like bearing the depreciation of newer models.

So do I buy another S70, with a more powerful engine this time, or do I look for a good 960/S70? I was driving my wife's 745 yesterday and I must say that I enjoyed how rock solid it feels compared to the S70.

Any thoughts?

TIA,

R
Now driving a '99 Saab 9-5 2.0t and not really enjoying it...

If you get another Volvo, get one with a manual tranny. Especially if it is a t5 or R. The auto tends to down shift a lot with less driver control. With all the driving you do, I wouldn't get a new one either.

You best bet would be a '98 S70 T5 or R, 240+ hp, these came with the mechanical throttle, so you're not at the mercy of the dealer with the electronic throttle.

The other choice would be a '02 or newer S60 turbo. Avoid '99-'01 models
