Torque bar bushing 850

Hi,

I'm trying to replace the torque bar bushing on my 850. I got the old one out eventually having had to resort to a chisel!

I just cant seem to push the new one in - any tips?

I recommend taking a look at this nice website:

http://www.matthewsvolvosite.com/engine_mount2.php

It has full details on the simple rig you need to make the new bushing go in. It worked for me!

The OEM bushing definitely needs pressed in. You can unbolt the stay from the head and take that and the bushing somewhere to have it done. Or if you are stubborn like me, you can devise a "gizmo" consisting of a threaded rod, some washers, and a couple of 4 in. floor plates for 1/2 inch pipe and make a press that basically "pulls" the bushing into place. I'd try and explain it, but you almost have to see it. Do a search on the Volvo sites and search for trailing arm bushing. There is a similiar "gizmo" described that gives good pictures and gives you an idea of where I went with this. It actually took me longer to figure out the construction of this "gizmo" then to put the bushing in once I got it figured out.

Are you replacing it with one of the two piece polyurethane bushings or the oem part from the dealer? If using the oem part, I beleive it has to be pressed in.

If you are referring to the anchor block for the rear control arm, I replaced one this spring and I had to completely drop the rear. I had to remove the springs, brake lines, etc.!
