low fuel level sensor may be blowing indicator fuse 850 1993

I have a 1993 850 turbo and a 15 amp fuse for the indicators, high beam and cruise control seems to blow every few weeks and I am wondering whether it may be related to the low fuel sensor. When the low fuel sensor resets (or whatever it does, when I fill the tank), could it blow a fuse in an apparently unrelated part of the car, if the sensor was faulty. The fuse seems to blow about three times and once the fuse is replaced for the fourth time, nothing happens for a few weeks. Then I made the possible connection between the low fuel sensor and the fuse blowing, though I do not know if these are linked in the wiring of the car.

I tend to fill the tank when the low fuel indicator comes on the dash and last week, after I filled the tank it blew 3 fuses (once as I left the gas station and two almost immediately, the following day) and after I replaced the fuse for the fourth time, I have had no problems for almost a week. While I was out of the country, my partner was driving the car and she had no problems, but always filled the tank up before the low fuel light came on. So, after exhausting any other possibilities, the only variable seems to be the low fuel sensor. Is this possible or am I imagining the link between these two events and what can I do about it? Any help appreciated.
