'97 850 radio swap 850 1997

Hi
Just purchased a lovely 5-speed '97 850 with 120K miles on it. She's great, except for her radio (SC-811 w/ premium sound). I hate having the cassette player in there and would prefer the cd/tape unit (SC-816). If I were to purchase one, would I need to perform any wiring tasks, or would the unit slip right in and fir into the existing radio inputs? Thanks for any help, and if I left out any important info let me know.

'97 850 radio swap, nope its plug-n-play 850 1997

Nope, its a plug-n-play swap. I swapped my 811 out for a 816 with black face plate from the dealer for around $200 a few years ago. To remove the radio just press in on the release latches there on the front of the radio, they'll pop back out and you just pull them from there and the whole radio slides out. Make sure you have the radio security code handy.

Whew. I consider myself handy, but with radios and speaker wiring, i'm useless. The radio i'm looking at actually has the gray face plate (doubt that should make a difference since it's the same SC #). You just made my evening!

Thanks!
