brake fluid flush? S40-V40

How important is it to have the brake fluid flushed and how often should it be done? I've never done it with my other cars but the S40 is my nicest car yet so I want to try to take extra good care of it. I noticed a brake flush isn't part of the normal maintainance schedule but some people say it should be done every 2 years. So how important is this?
