can I turn off my check engine light? V70-XC70

I haved a '98 v70 awd. The check engine light is on because I need a new air pump. I do not have the money to buy one right now (they run about $375), but I need to get my car inspected (annual state inspection).

Is there a fuse I can pull, or is there something else I can do, that will turn off the light? I am told that it's a technicality, but the light has to be off even though the air pump not working does not affect the way the car works.
