Do the adjustment wheels for the dashboard vents pop out? 850 1996

Hello All,

I have a '96 850 GLT wagon with automatica climate control. Each vent in the dashboard has a control wheel to the right of the vent opening which "opens/closes" the vent. To close the vent, you turn the wheel up toward a "0" symbol.

Recently, the "0" symbol fell back into the dashboard. I've been able to obtain a replacement from a salvage yard. It would be wonderfully easy if I could just "pop" the adjustment wheel out of the dash board. That should (in theory) give me access to the opening where I could fit back into place the missing "0".

Does anyone know if this adjustment wheel pops out? Is there some other way of gaining access to where this "0" symbol pops in without removing the dashboard? The vent that I am dealing with is located to the left of the steering wheel. I have revove the adjustable vent grill from the opening, but that does not provide access to where the slot for the "0" is located. Thanks to all who reply.

Hugh
