My 96 855 glt whith 106,500 miles failed emissions (NOX). A reading of 3.0 is allowed. On the first test it read 3.9. I then tuned it up with new plugs, distributer cap, and rotor and removed the flame trap. The second test registered 4.1. The CO and hydrocarbons are very low. From what I have read, it is burning lean and hot. That is what causes the nigh NOX levels. I live in Colorado at 6,100 feet. The car runs great, I just need to get the emissions approved so that I can get license plates. I couldn't find the Bosch Super Plugs in a 6 heat range, so I got the Bosch Platinum + 4 Plugs. I had been using Bosch Super in the 7 heat range. Would the colder plugs help? Could the O2 sensor be the problem?
Any suggestions would be appreciated
