Hello ! I have some starting troubles with my 97 850 AWD.

It started about 2 weeks ago. I went to start it, and nothing. So my dad boosted me, it started right on and had no problem ! I thought the battery was showing it's age ( about 3-4 years ) so I changed it ! The trouble was gone for about 2 weeks ( it had done it 2 -3 times before changing the battery, but started all the time when boosted ! ).

This morning it restarted to do this trouble ! I got in my car, put the key in, all accesory, lights, radio ect. working. Turn the key, nothing ! I went to check the battery cables, were all ok and thight, no rust ect. !

I was at my gf house, and my 240 is hibernating there for the winter, just in front of where my 850 was parked, so I tried to get it beside, but they're wasn't enough space, and it was stuck on ice. So I tried again to start the 850, played with the key in the ignition, then bam it starts ! Struggling a little bit at first but then the starter was ok to start the engine ! Before this, it woulnd't even crank or start ! And I don't hear any ticking like the bendix or anything like this trying to go out !

And I've taken the car a few times today and it started ok everytime !

They're is no battery light in the dash, and when I changed the battery, I've tested the alternator and it seems to be good !

Another thing that I've remarked, but I THINK that it's normal, when letting the clutch, when the engine rpm is going down , I can see my front lightning go down a little bit and then it come back to normal when the car is in movement ! Could that be a sign of a old alternator ?

Bon ! Ca fait une couple de fois que ca me fait ca ! ( sur un 850 AWD 97 ) .

Je viens pour starter mon char, y start pas ! Crank pas et start pas ! Mais mes accesoires dans lauto marchent !

Si jboost lauto, elle part !

La batterie avait pas été changée depuis quelque temps, alors jai décidé de changre la batterie ! Le probleme a pas réapparu depuis environ 1 ou 2 semaines ! Jusqu'a ce matin !!! ( il faisait environ -11c, rien de bien épeurant ! )

Je met la clé, les accesoires marchent, mais le moteur crank pas et start pas ! J'entendait meme pas de déclic du starter comme si le bendix essayait de sortir, tk j'entend rien !

La jme dis merde ! ca recommence, j'était chez ma blonde, et mon 240 est en hibernation juste en avant, fake jme dis jva le tasser pour booster voir ! Mais ya de la glace et pas assez despace, bref le 240 est pris la !

Alors jme réessaye pour le 850, met la clé, tourne rien, réessaye wo ! le starter reprend vie, a de la misere un peu a tourner mais il est capable de faire partir le moteur ! et aucune lumiere de batterie allumée dans le dash !

Au garage, après avoir changé ma batterie on avait fait un pti test vite et mon alternateur avait lair de bien charger !

Jcommence a me demander si j'ai pas changé ma batterie pour rien .. !

Une autre chose que jai remarqué, mais que jme rapelle pas si ca faisait ca avant, si je suis arreté proche dun mur un dune auto, et que je déclutch tranquillement les lumieres avant baissent ( phares ) , et quand le moteur reprend le dessus ils reprennent leur intensité normale !

JPENSE que c'est normal, vu que le moteur force , donc tourne moins vite, et lalternateur aussi. Mais jme rapelle pas si ca faisait ca avant et jsais pas si ca peut avoir un rapport avec lalternateur ?
