Did ATF flush...is 12 quarts enough? V70-XC70

I did the ATF flush with a full case of Mobil 3309. The fluid had 100k miles. It did help the car shift smoother. Everywhere I read you need 16 litres/quarts. I figured I would do the 12 quarts now and in another 30k do 16 quarts.

If the fluid is a lot clearer after 12 quarts, although not quite 'perfect', I would think four more is not going to make a big difference and I can wait for now.

Is there some special reason to flush more than 12 quarts?
