Dashboard outside temperature display. S70 1999

My S70 T5 has the multi-function rotary "info" switch display on the dash, with one function being the outside air temperature. The other functions seem to work fine but the temperature mode shows numbers that are much too high to be accurate. When the car was new, the reading was reliable. Where is the sensor for the outside temp that feeds this display, and has anyone seen this before? Am I on the right track to think about replacing the sensor? Thanks.
