The Best in this year winter tire test is (tests based on 195/65 15):

Goodyear Ultra Grip 500 (studded) was rated best in heavily snowed/iced areas, but this tire doesn't run as well on bare asphalt.

Gislaved Nord Frost 3 (studded) was ratest second, but the reviewers rated this an all-purpose winter tire meaning that it runs well in medium snow and on asphalt when the snow has cleared.

Nokian Hakkapeliitta 2 (studded) rated third. Handles well on moderate snow and iced surface, "bad on asphalt" (Literal translation).

Nokian Hakkapeliitta Q (Best Studless tire)

Michelin Maxi Ice (Studless tire) Quiet ride on asphalt, good on snow, but doesn't handle as well in sudden maneuvers on icy roads.

Bridgestone Blizzak WS-50 (studless tire) grips well on snow and ice but terrible on bare asphalt.
