98 V70 Headlight insulation on Wires disintegrating V70-XC70

The passenger side low beam bulb burned out in my wife's V70. When I was replacing it I moved the wiring the insulation broke of the wire leaving about 1 inch of bare wire. I assume this is because of the heat generated by the bulbs. Is there an easy fix for this? Does volvo even aknowledge there is a problem?
