I've had a lot of problems in the past with my dealer (unfortunately there is only one in my area). In the past it has been an incapability to fix things without multiple vists that has bothered me (back for inoperative fog light 4-5 times, inoperative gas door 5-6 times, check engine light on 5-6 times).
On the 48000 km service I just had done they have added insult to injury by flagrant overcharging for minor supplies. I expect to pay for the major items used like oil, oil filter, air filter and spark plugs but on top of this they have charged me $75 more for things like WD40, white grease, brake clean (whatever that is), injector cleaner (I'd have told them not to put it in if they asked me), anti freeze, brake fluid etc etc.
This service involves checking the level of the fluids listed and topping up not replacing them. Since I check all the fluids regularly and keep them topped up myself no major amount can have been required.
I've owned a car for thirty years and on occasion in the past I have seen the odd minor item added to a service - an annoying little extra which I have ignored - but this collection seems way over the top and too much to ignore.
Has anyone else experienced anything of this magnitude?
I've contacted the dealer and told them I will not be servicing the car there again unless these charges are reversed - my wife picked the car up and unfortunately could not recognise what was fair and what was not. I'm waiting for a call back after the service writer talks to the service manager, I'll post again when I get an answer.
