position light failure S60 2002

Sorry to burst your bubble, but the position light is a corner light (parking light in the USA), not the rear fog light.

Europeans have different lighting systems. They require cars to turn on the street side lights when parked at night (position lights) and this is accomplished by either a switch on the dash or the turn signal with the car turned off.

Europeans also have motorized headlamp adjustment motors, allowing the driver to adjust the headlights while in the driver's seat. One will get a ticket for having headlights out of adjustment. The typical American is not trained on how to adjust lights and would have headlights all over the place!

Americans also are completely unaware when it comes to rear fog lamps. It is as bright as a brake light and really messes up following drivers when there is no fog at night. I remember gaining on a Jaguar for 15 minutes in Western PA at about 3 am. I first thought he was driving with his left foot on the brake until I realized he had 2 fog lights. It was hard on my eyes to have that much light shining on me.

If the dash light is on, indicating the fog light is being used, TURN IT OFF! unless you are in pea soup fog.
