Why was S70 discontinued? S70 2000

I bought my first Volvo last November - the 2000 S70 AWD. A friend of mine went out looking for a new Volvo and said that Volvo no longer has a S70 model. Since I have only had the car for a year now I'm worried about the resale value on a discontinued model. Why did Volvo drop the sedan model?
