I have a '96 T5 on which the ABS light is coming on almost daily both at rest and at speed. Upon turning the ignition off the light will usually extinquish only to come on again within the next hour of so of driving. This problem has occured for several months now but initially only occurred every month or so, then every week or so, until the current daily problem. Though this may have no relevance, we have serious flooding lately in England but driving through some fairly deep water has had no effect on the ABS light either positive or negative. The codes indicate that it is the right hand side rear sensor, showing both codes for failure above and below 25mph. The dealer has (supposedly) cleaned both sensors and related stuff including connectors without improving anything. Does anyone know if changing the sensors is likely to fix this situation as the dealer points out that it could easily be the ECU giving a false reading due to defect in the ECU. Any thoughts or experience would be gratefully accepted. Thanks very much!
