Vehicle Maintenance Record? 850 1996

Hi, I bought a 96 Volvo 850 STD SDN from a seller who don't have any record of maintenance such as receipt or maintenance schedule book etc..

He said he went to Volvo dealer until the warranty covers everything(until 50,000 miles)and used some other mechanics after that. Is it possible for me to get the maintenance record of my car from any Volvo dealershop or headquarter if I give them VIN number? Any suggestion/opinion on this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
