Headlight Replacement S40-V40 2000

How do you replace the headlight bulbs on a 2000 V40. If you try from the inside, it looks like you need to remove a lot of "stuff" to get at them. If you do it from the outside, it looks like you have to "split" the lens assembly - something I've never seen before. (Low Beam Bulbs)
