I have a 2000 V70 with the 5 speed automatic transmission. The dipstick on this transmission is even smaller and harder to get to than on the 4 speed trans. I attempted to check the fluid level and the plastic dipstick broke trying to reinsert it into the tube. It's under the radiator hose and a wiring harness and there is no "straight shot" at it. Naturally the broken piece fell down into the tube and disappeared. I know it went into the transmission as I saw it slide down into the hole. From what is left of the dipstick, I estimate that the missing piece is about 2.5-3 inches long. Has anyone else had this happen and do you think there is any chance that the piece will get lodged somewhere that will cause a problem. The drain plug seems like it is too far from where the dipstick tube enters the casing to be able to "reach around" with my finger to find it. There is a cover on the side (facing the front of the car) but it doesn't look possible to remove that cover with the engine/transmission in the car. Thanks in advance for any ideas or advice.
