ECC air filter 850 93

While attempting (gotta get smaller torx) to replace the pollen filter w/a kit from Borton, I remembered a posting about an ECC air filter. I found it on my 93 na 850. My wife's 94 na 850 does not have it (or at least I couldn't find it).

Hmm...

Why the change?

I assume I should change this filter.

Anybody have opinions?
