Very slow leak: I have new spot size of dime on driveway each morning. Sampling bead of liquid where it's dripping off, on bottom of engine support frame, right side, it appears to be mostly coolant, but also seems to have some oil in it as well. Has greasy feel. Brownish-green in color.
I took off timing belt cover, and wiped things off as best I could. After a few days I noticed wetness on the bottom inside of plastic frame that timing belt cover mounts to, under the water pump. Same brownish-green fluid. Hard to tell where exactly it's coming from, but I don't see any signs above water pump.
Notes:
1. Coolant fill tank fluid is bright green; no hint of brown.
2. Replaced exhaust VVT hub last month; was leaking oil pretty good.
3. Volvo water pump, don't know if original, 72000 miles on vehicle.
If water pump is leaking, why would fluid be greasy brown-green, if fluid in overflow tank is green? Possibly leaking coolant is picking up residual oil from the old VVT hub, I suppose. I'm not seeing any oil leaking from new VVT hub.
Any thoughts on source of leak, and why fluid mix, appreciated. Thanks.
