Trunk won't open 850 1995

I had been using my trunk almost daily until one day when it wouldn't open. I could hear that familiar unlocking sound when I used the keyless entry, but the trunk handle does not open the lid when I pull it up. A ASE Certified Tech told me that I need to jimmy the lock open and replace it w/ a new lock set. Please tell me there is another way.
