New whine on start-up ,Turbo, transmission? 850 1995

The car : 854 T5R manual . This weekend when I started the car and rove away I heard a new whining noise starting at about 2000 rpm. It is very faint and if the radio or aircon fan is on you can't hear it. It sounds like it dissappears when the car is hot. I couldn't hear it when I revved the car. (only did this when the car was at temp) I'm also trying to see if its not may be the transmission by depressing the clutch at 2500 rpm but then all the noise stops as the negin speed drops as well. I've also noticed tha there is a slight increase in powe feel when I hit 5000 rpm, is that natural or is this also an indication of a turbo going? Any ideas ?
