brakes 850 1997

I just did a front (rotors and pads) and rear (just pads) brake job on my 850R and seem to have a squeeking problem. The brakes work good, but I do notice that if I brake really hard they seem to grind(metal on metal sensation). Did I do something wrong? Any help is always appreciated, dcb
