Battery Draining 1996 850

1996 "850"
Something is running intermittanly just rear of and below the battery.
It will "run" in the middle of the night with the engine cold as well as in the day with a warm engine and drain my battery. Sounds like an electric motor running. What is it and how do I fix it ?
