High-pitched noise from A/C compressor 850 1996

Hi all,

The A/C compressor on my 96 855 NA has developed an irritating noise recently. Itīs a very high pitched noise which increases slowly in amplitude during the last five or so seconds before the clutch disengages (normal cycling). New evap and recharge last year, system works perfectly otherwise.
Can this be an indication of a bearing going dry/bad. Is there any component I can try lubricating myself and if so what type of lubricant to use.
