Alarm standard on V70? V70-XC70 1999

I recently bought a "certified pre-owned" '99 V70 from my local dealer, who made a big deal out of all the inspections and extended warranty to justify the price....fine, but I am trying to find out if the car originally had an alarm system. It has the LED indicator on the dash, but not the red button on the keyless remote that was provided with the car.

Was the alarm system standard on this car, and the dealer opted not to "certify" it, or was it truly an option? I guess I just don't trust what the dealer is telling me.
