How many people fixed tranny slipping problems with a flush? 850 1994

Hi,

Last night I had my wife's '94 855T with 118kmi on it towed to the local dealership. The car was slipping in reverse and forward gear something horrible.

I'm preparing myself for the worst, but I'm also wondering how many folks have had luck curing transmission problems simply by proper and extensive flushing. Has anybody?

I'm loathe to get rid of the car because nearly everything else works just fine (it needs a new CV boot, but that's the only thing), and we've had the car from 20kmi, so we know its history well.

Looking for any hopeful stories and words of wisdom.
