Considering upgrading my wife’s 1999 V70 non-turbo with something with more power, much more power. Considering Audi A6 Avant, BMW 525 Touting.
I drive a 2002 BMW 530i and when I drive my wife’s car I really feel guilty that she’s so “under powered”. No ability to maneuver quickly in traffic and merging onto a high speed road is simply an act of asking forgiveness. Yet the V70 is an everyday ride and weekend hauler to the lumber yard, nursery, etc. Owned many Volvos but never anything like a T5. What can I expect in power (on a par with German linear power) and what would I give up in utility wagon capacity (don’t want a rocket that can’t carry a load).
Also, the Avant Quattro is a definite plus when it snows but I'm staying away from Volvo’s AWD because record is very poor in the maintenance/ frequent repairs department according to several friends who own new (2002) XC’s.
